It’s been a struggle lately, hasn’t it?
high temperatures
melting glaciers,
fire, drought,
and warming sea.
Her message grows
more desperate
her outbursts
more despairing.
Once a year we celebrate
with mindfulness and hope,
but it’s not enough, I know,
to ease her broken heart.
I too mourn the polar bear,
the butterfly and bee,
the countless creatures dying
from our refusal to believe
heavy footfalls harm the planet
and she needs our tender care.
Honor the earth !
Plant a tree,
seed a garden.
Show her that you care!
